I decided I really needed to add to my terrain collection for River City, the locale of my ATZ campaign. Plasticville buildings are okay, but aren't that cheap. I've seen some nice work with cardstock, but I don't have a ton of experience in this regard. So I'm easing into it with some easy scenery projects for World Works Games. For $3.50 you can get the "Abandoned Building" which is good for making simple "outer shell" buildings." Rather than just use cardstock I built a box with some foamcore I had lying around, painted the corners black, and then just glued the panels right onto the box. Easy as pie, and a good way to "bulk out" the city. I also bought the Mayhem Armory with the intent of using it to make up some stores as I get more confident with the craft.
Looking good. A foamcore body will prolonged the life of it.
ReplyDeletesounds good I think this is the way to go for me as well, need to get some foam board and make the plunge
ReplyDeleteReinforcing your card models with foamboard or mounting card will preserve their shelf life considerably. If you're not going to feature interior detail then making simple "boxes" like this is great way to populate your city very quickly. Good work, WQ!
ReplyDeleteThat looks very nice, A few of those will fill up your table. Good luck with the Armory. Its a great set and you can use it to make a building with an interior if you want to try it. With your monthly gaming budget in mind, you may want to look at Stoelzel's Structures. They are great quality, very affordable and are designed to be built onto foamcore.
ReplyDelete@Lucky, I'm over budget for this month as it is (thanks, Games Workshop) but Mrs. Q (aka, the real life Irene) said that I should drop the budget. That might have something to do with the new set of derby pads she wants to get.
ReplyDeleteI bought all the Quick Scenics buildings from WWG a while back. I've built two and they are great filler for the table. I put mine onto foam core as well. Quick and easy and they look great. I'm planning to do some more but with removable levels and interiors cobbled together from other WWG products.
ReplyDeletegood looking building; I too am contemplating putting together some box-type buildings to bulk out my city.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about trying card buildings again and see if I can get in swing of things
